1. Does my card still work?
Yes. Your card still works. At some point, US Bank emailed you a new US Bank rewards card without the HAS logo on it. You may not have noticed that this wasn’t a HAS card because it had the same background picture, perhaps the Kotel or the American and Israeli Flag. US Bank utilized the same background pictures to ensure the cards retained a similar look to the HAS program. As such, many customers did not notice that they were using a standard US Bank rewards card and not the HAS card.
2. Am I still earning points?
To the best our knowledge, you are still earning 1 point per 1 Dollar spent, albeit US Bank points and not HAS points. We recommend calling US Bank at 1-866-322-7989 to learn more about the current rewards program.
3. Do I still have my HAS points
You never lost your HAS points and they are still in your US Bank account, unless you of course already redeemed them or they expired after the standard 5 year expiration period. You can log into your online account at www.USbank.com to view your current point status.
4. Can I transfer my points to EL AL?
For several months after US Bank took over the HAS Program, it was not possible to transfer points to EL AL. However, as of November 2014, cardholders were once again able to transfer points to EL AL. To the best of our knowledge, you can still transfer your points to EL AL. For more details log into your online account at www.USbank.com or call US Bank Customer Service at 1-866-322-7989.
5. Are points that I transferred to EL AL in the past still valid?
To the best of our knowledge, all points transferred from HAS to EL AL are still valid. Please note, points transferred from HAS to EL AL have a 3 year expiration. Points that have expired inside your Matmid account are most likely a result of the 3 year expiration rate and not the dispute between HAS and EL AL.
6. Am I still earning Double Points?
You are no longer earning double points at HAS Double Point locations. You may be earning double points through a US Bank program but you would need to call US Bank at 1-866-322-7989 for more information.
7. Can I still get discounts at HAS Discount Merchants in Israel?
Unfortunately not. This was an exclusive HAS feature.
8. Does my US Bank card support charity in Israel?
Unfortunately, only the HAS Advantage card supported charity in Israel. To date HAS donated $950,000 to Israel related charities. Your US Bank card does not have this benefit.
9. Is there any other Card I can use that supports Israel?
Unfortunately, we are unaware of any credit card that currently supports charity in Israel.
10. My card has a picture of the Kotel or an American and Israeli flag on it? Is this a HAS Advantage card or US Bank issued card?
In an effort to try and provide customers a card design similar to HAS, US Bank issued all customers a new US Bank credit card with a similar HAS design. These cards don’t have the HAS logo on them and have nothing to do with HAS.
11. Why am I just learning about this now?
When US Bank took over the HAS program, they made multiple announcements inside their monthly statements. Since many cardholders do online banking and don’t open their statements, many cardholders never heard of this development. HAS held back from releasing public statements as we were doing everything possible to settle the dispute with EL AL. Releasing any information would have only pushed a potential resolution further away. Ultimately, after many attempts to resolve the dispute, EL AL continually declined to reach a resolution and as a result on November 3, 2015 HAS filed a $20.8MM lawsuit against EL AL in Israel. The lawsuit and the details have now become public knowledge.
12. Where can I learn more about the HAS lawsuit?
To read a statement from HAS CEO, Zev Dobuler as well as an article from the Jewish Press about the lawsuit, click here.
